Biohazard Cleanup and Restoration

The need for biohazard cleaning can result from:

  • Viral Contamination
  • Hoarding
  • Sewage Backups,
  • Crime Scenes
  • Chemical Spills
  • Illegal Drug Labs

We are a licensed restoration company, trained and experienced in cleaning biohazards, and certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC).

We have been defined as an Essential Business and must remain open and available to assist should the need arise for viral decontamination and disinfection services, as well as for property damage restoration.  Other Essential Businesses and Institutions, such as grocery stores, medical facilities, and essential government services may find themselves in need of cleaning and disinfection by a professional company.

In response to the current pandemic, we have developed a protocol for cleaning and the application of approved disinfectants based on collaborative recommendations by the IICRC and the Restoration Industry Association in Canada (RiACansda). This has also been developed partially in the interests of keeping the cost down, especially in situations where cleaning is a proactive safety measure, and the area has had no known exposure to an infected person. In proactive cases, the application of a disinfectant may be all that is specified. For areas that have been exposed to someone suspected of being infected, an incrementally higher level that includes cleaning and personal protective equipment (PPE) is called for.  The highest and most in-depth level of cleaning, application of disinfectants, and PPE is specified for areas that have been exposed to persons known to be infected with the virus.

Common Biohazard Scenarios

Sewage Backups

Sewage backups and dark water intrusions are more than nasty, smelly deposits – these damages also introduce harmful microorganisms into a structure. We remove the sewage, contaminants, and moisture, and help ensure the structure is properly cleaned, disinfected, and deodourised.

Bloodborne Pathogens

We remove and dispose of bodily fluids, tissue and other potentially pathogenic substances resulting from accident, trauma, crime or death. Trained SERVPRO of North Mississauga Professionals clean, disinfect and deodourise the structure.

Illegal Drug Manufacturing Labs / Meth Labs

SERVPRO realizes many of the chemicals used in the production of illegal drugs such as "meth" are volatile and can leave harmful residues throughout a structure. We follow federal and state guidelines to properly clean all surfaces.

We are available 24 hours a day—our highly trained technicians are standing by. We have the qualified trained professionals who are ready to respond to these incidents.
